The elegant historic centre is abundant with religious and civic architectural masterpieces, such as the Torrazzo clock tower in Piazza Duomo and the Torre Guelfa (Guelph Tower), which houses the statue of the city’s patron saint and the lion of San Marco, a testimony to the city’s historic links with the Republic of Venice. All of them can also be reached by bike, and among the closest ones worth visiting are Pizzighettone and Soncino.
